Hold me accountable!

My goal for this week - GET 6 APS A DAY!
I've been a major slack-case on my APs lately, and I haven't broken the 140's since December, so to shake things up a bit, I'm going to do muchos exercise-o's this week.

For the love of all that resembles good, kick me in the arse if I don't post my daily victories!

Now that I've gotten that promise posted and outta the way, I'm going to go lay on the couch and play some Tetris. Surely I can rack up some APs that way! lol

Hooray for slime in a shell!!!

Who woulda thunk a snail could make my day?

Well, I suppose it starts with the scale, which showed a 1.5LB LOSS for today's WI!!!!

The snail just adds the visual dimension to the happiness and joy I'm feeling! WOOHOOOOOEEEY!!!

It's all about the Chocobran Plan, folks! Just droppin' a dozen of those puppies down the hatch a day has made a world of difference!

lol

Today it's gloriously gloomy outside - I truly appreciate a rainy day when I have the day off, because I can snuggle up in bed with The American President on in the background and the windows open juuuust enough so that rain drops don't stain my window sill, but I can still hear them hitting the neighbour's house and I can still smell the rainy air.

Plus that means I can't do any work outside on the yard or whatever, so bonus for me!

Yesterday at my parent's place was super fun! Lexi took Auntie for a walk, and made sure to point out "Attie's dooty cah" (Auntie's dirty car) to the family and random passer-by'ers on the sidewalk. Cute. lol Her vocabulary is excruciatingly vast (she's growing up too quickly!), and her curiousity is addictive. Ahh, I miss her already!

My sis wants me to come over and play again today, but I think I just need to tend to my exercises that I've neglected over the past few days - get 'em outta the way so I can focus on my 24 tonite.

Oooooh, Jack Bauer's sooooo brave!!!!

Ok, so here's today's food forecast:

Brekkie:
coffee w/ff creamer (my new friend!) - 1
1/4 cup steel cut oats - 2
1 banana - 1.5
cinnamon - 0
= 4.5

Snack:
1 Granny Smith apple w/2 tbsp light cool whip (I'll eat anything with Cool Whip!) - 1
= 1

Lunch:
1 cup Gardennay broccoli soup - 1
crackers w/hummus - 5
= 6

Snack:
1 cup strawberries w/2 tbsp light Cool Whip (there it is again!) = 0
= 0

Supper:
2 slices All You Need is Loaf - 8
salad - 0
= 8

19.5/21 not including whatever I decide to snack on while glued to the tube tonite, watching another hour of Jack's intense and crazy life unfold before my eyes!

Damn you, Facebook!

And damn you, digital camera!

That's right, Facebook (or Crackbook, as my friends call it) has been consuming most of my computer time. Dammit! And adding insult to injury, my digital camera, although I have LOTS of pictures to download from it, for some reason won't allow me to upload my visual goodies to my computer! WHY??!?!?

So all the great piccies I have to share, of the yummy meals I've made and of my adorable niece, are stuck in the bowels of my camera, thus uninspiring me to share my stories on my blog with my famous visually-aided documentaries!

DAMMIT DAMMIT!

So that's that!

So, here I am, tail between my legs, without pictures to share - but I won't let that stop me anymore! (Plus I have nothing new to report on Crackbook...otherwise I'd be on that instead of this!) HA!

Anyhoot - I have to say, the Rod Stewart show was, to say the least, pretty darn fun! He's one cheesy mofo, and in my opinion, should've been onstage at the Club Regent Casino with his tacky clothes and seizure-like dance moves. But the man can belt out a tune like nobody's bidness!

5th row on the floor was pretty cool, he was THIIIIIIIIIS close to us! My friend is a self-described cougar, and was just lapping up everything ol' Roddy was throwing at us, but inside, I was just thinking, "Oh god, I wish Donovan was here so he could be making fun of this with me!" HAHA! Nah, it was a good show, and we had lots of fun!

I've been trying to stick to my physio-prescribed strength training exercises and stretching routines everyday, but I'm now up to 5hrs a day at work, and I tells ya, my body's feeling it. When I come home from work, I needs me a nap BIG TIME, and I'll fall asleep when Rachel Ray comes on, and won't wake up til Dono comes home from work at around 6 or so.

So, I'm still feeling the effects of the toxins in my system (damn you, surgery!), and I feel guilty about sleeping all the time, and in turn, I end up neglecting my exercising and stretches for the most part. But if I do feel the energy to do it, it's not until around 9 or 10pm, and then I get to bed late, only to wake up early for work the next morning. It's a vicious, vicious cycle!

On the upside, I'M OFF TODAY, and it's gloriously beautiful out there! Yesterday Dono and I did some obligatory spring cleaning - he washed the windows while I got our gardens ready for eventual planting. It was quite the workout in the hot sun, but I feel better now that everything's clean and ready and waiting!

Today, we're going to get our APs in with our flyer delivery, and then hit up ye ol' Superstore for some groceries - we're heading over to my parent's tonite for supper (bbq'd chicken!) and I'm bringing the fresh fruit salsa and dessert, so I need some groceries to get my shyte together!

Here's today's food forecast:

Brekkie:
1/4 cup steel cut oats - 2
1 banana - 1.5
cinnamon - 0
coffee w/ff creamer - 1
= 4.5

Lunch:
1 serving Buoy Meets Grill - 5
salad - 0
= 5

Snack:
1 cup strawberries - 0
2 tbsp light Cool Whip - 0
1 grapefruit - 1
= 1

Supper:
bbq chicken w/fresh fruit salsa - 4
salad - 0
1 slice Angel Food cake w/cool whip 'n strawberries - 2
= 6

16.5/21

Since I have a few extra pts to play with, I may pop some chocobrans down my throat at some point during the day!

Off to do flyers - hope everyone has a great day!!!!!

AHHH!

Ok, so I totally neglected my blog today, even though I have pictures to post (of last night's supper - SOOOO good!), and other fun stuff.....I had full intentions of doing it when I got home from work today, but I got home at 1:30, and crashed on the couch until half an hour ago (5:30)!!!

Stupid surgery drugs!

ANYhoot, I'll post more later - I just had to say.....

......GUESS WHO I'M GOING TO SEE TONITE??

WHEEEE!!!
Hopefully he's still donning this hair!
My friend and I are 5th row on the freakin' FLOOR!
We'll be able to feel the beads of sweat from his mullet just whippin' out on us! I have to go find some bras to toss up on stage!
HAHA!
I'll try to post more later, but let's be honest, it probably won't be til tomorrow!
Have a great day everyone!

Who knew there could be so many uses for an air hockey table?

I love my air hockey table! It's not only a really fun game that provides a great right-arm workout, but it also makes a FABULOUS king-sized comforter dryer!

Just hang that puppy over the top, and let the air circulation do the rest! lol

(It's also great for providing extra surface area for folding towels, storing crap, and making vacuuming the basement difficult!) lol

Also, my fitness stepper makes a wonderful place to hang my work shirts to dry, too!

Back on track Monday!

Good morning friends!

What a weekend! Saturday night, Dono and I went out to his cousin's Ukrainian dance troupe's fundraising zabava (big Ukrainian party) for a gourmet Ukie meal, to watch some incredible dancers, partake in a silent auction (that I, yet again, failed to win anything at!), and a social complete with kolomaka (20-min long Ukie polka-type dance where random ppl get up and join in the circle and do their best to get in on the traditional dancing action).

I wasn't wearing my dancing shoes, so I didn't show off my "skills" (note: I hadn't Ukrainian danced since I was 6!), but I did indulge in the faboo meal. NSV - I didn't finish everything on my plate, no matter how yummy it was! I was just sooo stuffed, and traditionally, my Baba would be insulted if I didn't clean my plate, so I was used to finishing off the heaping piles of perogies and cabbage rolls, but I just couldn't - and so I didn't!

Plus that, I didn't have any dessert, either!

(mind you, the pts I saved from not finishing my meal or eating dessert, I probably clobbered in the vodka....oh well!)

Yesterday, as beautiful as it was outside, I couldn't go out and play....I stayed inside all day to finish my friend's wedding video! (With the exception of our usually Sunday morning flyer delivery - we breezed through it, and I got 2 APs!)

We had to run out to Future Shop to pick up some new DVD-burning software, and my hubby bought me Notting Hill (one of my fav's!) b/c he felt so sorry for me that I was stressing out 'n stuff.

Awww!

(As I was doing my physio-required stretching and strength exercises - which garnered me 2 more APs!, I popped in this Hugh Grant classic and stayed up til midnight watching the follies as they unfolded!)

On the way back home from delivering the vid to my friend, hubby wanted to stop in at the BDI (Bridge Drive-In) for ice cream, so I treated him (and myself) - ANOTHER NSV....instead of the hot fudge sundae I usually get, smothered in nuts, I opted instead for a chocolate-dipped banana! So a fraction of the points, and still satisfying!

HOORAY!

Today's WI reflected my vodka and chocolate covered weekend - I still lost (how??!) but not as much as I would have liked. I'm down 0.5lb!

GO SNAIL, GO!!! lol

Today's my Sunday, as I'm back at work tomorrow, so even with my cramps that just came on an hour ago, I'm planning on whipping this ol' house into shape. Did a couple loads of laundry so far (are dryers supposed to be smoking and smell like burning? Uh-oh...!), did the dishes, and now I'm going to wash the kitchen floor, do some vacuuming, and other domesticated-wife stuff!

Here's today's food forecast:

Brekkie:
1/4 cup steel cut oats - 2
cinnamon - 0
1 banana - 1.5
coffee w/ff creamer - 1
= 4.5

Snack:
1 mango - 2
= 2

Lunch:
2 cups Gardennay soup - 2
salad w/a hint of feta cheese - 1
2 slices WW toast - 1
1/2 tbsp peanut butter - 1
= 5

Snack:
1 grapefruit - 1
= 1

Supper:
1 serving ESBM's Just Stew It (yummy-sounding stew with Bisquick dumplings floating in it) - 7
salad - 0
= 7

19.5/21

Saturday, April 21, 2007

Early Saturday morning...

Despite my being a lump yesterday, doing nothing but sitting at the computer editing the video (which is almost done, I think....kinda....not really..!!!), I did manage to get in some APs which I'd like to report!

4 APs!!! HOORAY!

2 for 40 min strength training
1 for 20 min treadmill
1 for 20 min elliptical

(it was 11:30pm by the time I finished, I probably could have gone longer if I didn't have to wake up at 5:45am today!)

Tonite, Dono and I are going to a big ol' Ukrainian feast thingo - his cousin's a dancer, and their troupe is holding a party - meal, watch the dance, and then a social after. My sis is coming along, I like getting her outta the house, and my brother's joining up with us for the social part. Should be good times - I think I'll only have about 6pts for the dinner, though - Dono's gonna have to eat what my pts don't allow! (he won't mind!)

Today's food forecast:

Brekkie:
1/4 cup steel cut oats - 2
cinnamon - 0
1 banana - 1.5
coffee w/ff creamer - 1
= 4.5

........

not sure what else is going on here, but I'll figure it out and post again later! I have to get me arse to work now! Cripes!

ps. I just joined this Facebook thing last night - still trying to figure it out.... anyone else on it? So much for MySpace, I guess!

Can't go out an' play :(

It's supposed to go up to, like, +22 outside, and I'm stuck inside, working on this wedding video.

I wish I could go out and play!

I'm almost done, I think - just one more song to cut footage to, and I should be good to go.

God, this footage I'm working with is sooo crappy!!! Don't get me wrong, the bride and groom are BEAUTIFUL, and everything looks great - but the way this blowhole captured it all on video....GRRRRRRR!

Ok, back att'er again!

Finally Friday!

So I ended up calling into work sick this morning. Yesterday was just SOOO draining, though, and I didn't get my nap in - I crashed at 8 last night (but didn't get home til 7:30 - I had popcorn for supper - that shows what kinda day it was!).

Turns out my sister's "husband" is outta town for a bit, and because of all the weapons in his home, and the fact that my sis got the protective order 'n stuff, the cops obtained a warrant and wanted to seize the crap in his house, and called her up to meet them there yesterday afternoon.

She phoned me when she was 7 min away, and I said "I'M COMING TOO!". I heard he did a lot of damage to the interior of the house, and I may never get another chance to see it.

By the time I pulled up to the house, my sis came up to my car and told me the cops just called in for the bomb squad - turns out they found a suspicious package w/duct tape all around it. So, we waited another 2 hrs for the bomb squad to show (you sure do learn how nosey your neighbours can get - when that big truck pulled up, I think every one of them wanted to go and "get their mail" or "do yardwork".!!!).

Long story short, it wasn't a bomb (although he did tell my sis he would burn the house to the ground if he ever lost it to her). They weren't taking any chances.

So we went inside, where my sis wanted to collect more things for her daughter, and get the rest of her clothes, etc. My god, it was a DISASTER. He wrote babble all over the walls, doors, and mirrors, furniture and walls were slashed and destroyed, garbage everywhere...it was a mess. By the time we finished loading up our cars and busting outta there, I was SO wiped, and happy to get home.

Needless to say, I needed today to just regroup and relax, but I don't know how much I can get, since he's arriving back into the city today, and since he was served with the order, he might just be so pissed off that who knows what he'll do? I'm just kinda on standby right now. *sigh*

ANYHOOT, back to basics!, today's food forecast is:

Brekkie:
1/4 cup steel cut oats - 2
cinnamon - 0
1 banana - 1.5
= 3.5

Snack:
1 cup strawberries w/2 tbsp ff cool whip- 0
1 All Bran bar - 2
= 2

Lunch:
2/3 cup couscous w/mango chutney (leftovers) - 3
salad w/feta cheese - 2
= 5

Snack:
1 mango - 2
1 pkg Crispy Minis - 2
= 4

14.5/21 - leaves me 6'ish pts for supper - something chicken, perhaps. I'm thinking I'll finally make that Sticky Chicky! Sounds soooo good!

Hope y'all have a great day!

Thursday, April 19, 2007

Ok, back to the core of my blog now...!

My eyes are just a-burnin'! Y'know when you wake up a tad too early, could have used maaaybe another 10 minutes, but don't get it, and then your eyes burn? That's what I have.

Or maybe it's just me that gets it.

??!!

Anyhoot, not sure what today's menu is gonna look like - I think I'm ready for the Sticky Chicky tonite - I picked up some red wine vinegar last night at the store, along with the curry 'n stuff. Only I'm not using wings, I'm just gonna use chicken boobs. I'll have to calculate the pts value of the sauce alone.

I took a sneak peek at the scale this morning (I really should stop doing that!), and I'm down a lb!!!! 151 BABY!!! If only I can hang on to that, or go LOWER even, by WI on Monday.....COME ON, BABY!!!!

Ok, my iPod's sitting on the speaker dock upstairs in the kitchen and is blasting tunes (I always play it when I do the dishes - makes it go faster!) and I see my dh has been putting "funny" songs on it again for me to discover.

When was the last time ANYONE ever heard an Aaron Neville tune?

Ahhh, my hubby's great!

Have a great day everyone!

Thursday morning revelation

I know this is my WW blog, but I also need to use it as a way to just vent, to express my thoughts and concerns, even if it doesn't apply to me directly.

I just have to say - last night, I was watching Larry King, and he was talking about the VTech massacre, and they showed the tape that the killer sent to NBC.

Things he was saying on his tape - ways he was described by others throughout the years, profiles that psychologists provided of him - completely sent shivers down my spine.

Not just because the entire situation down there was horrific and completely heart-breaking, but because this is the man that my sister is married to.

(If anyone can recall a couple of years ago the story that broke INTERNATIONALLY about the couple who put their newborn baby up on eBay to sell ad space on her....that was my niece. He threatened my sister to go along with his crazy ideas for the entire 6yrs they were married. I told him off the morning that paper came, and my niece was on the cover. He's still angry with me for making him shut down his "lucrative" idea.)

He carries weapons on him at all times. Has a penchant for guns, buys them off eBay, along with pineapple grenades, smoke bombs, crossbows, lock-picking devices, night vision goggles....you name it, he has it. He doesn't know we know about his purchases. He's scary.

I just got off the phone with my dad - he told me my sister finally got a protective order against him. Cops went to visit her last night to get a statement from her, they didn't leave until 3:30 this morning. The cops told her they were happy to be sitting and talking to her - because by their calculations of how crazy this man is, she should be dead - he's the type of guy who'll take himself out, and take others with him.

I'm going over to spend time with them today - but I just wanted to say this: as with the massacre down south, you just never know when your time is up, and you need to embrace your loved ones every chance you get. Tell them how much they mean to you every time you see them, because you never know if it'll be the last time.

I'm lucky that my sister's ok....but I fear this is only just the beginning of his rage. We've only seen the tip of the iceburg - I think this protective order will anger him, as he's not allowed to see his daughter even for 3 yrs. I don't think he'll give up that easily, but I pray that he gets put away and gets the help that he needs.

I just wanted to say this: life is precious, your family and friends are precious. Cherish every moment you can with them, let them know they are loved by you.

In the words of Rachel Ray, YUM-O!

For supper tonite, I made a Spicy Mango Chicken, with curry (the first time I've ever cooked with it, I had to make a special trip to the grocery store to pick some up!) and a hot mango chutney.

Good god, was that ever amazing!

I would have taken pics of it, cuz it looked so pretty with the orangy colour of the chutney with the bright red peppers - but by the time we got home after delivering our flyers and going grocery shopping, I had 10 min to get supper going before Lost started!

(I ended up missing a bit of it, a couple of minutes here and there) to keep on running upstairs to make sure the chicken wasn't burning on the element. And once it was done, about halfway through our show, we just chowed down!

But I'll definitely be making it again, so I'll be sure to take a pic next time!

My only qualm - the mango chutney I bought is just a small jar, and there was just enough for tonite's recipe, with a bit leftover - not enough to use for anything else. For all those other recipes that call for 1/4 cup or more, I'd have to shell out $4 for more small jars. Not really worth it, so I'll keep on searching for a Costco-sized vat of the stuff to make it worth my while!

Oh yeah - got 3 APs tonite from the flyer delivery, and more to come in a bit - since I started physio, I have a list of stretches and exercises I HAVE to do every day, so I'll get about 2 more for 40 min of strength training.

5 APs today! Not too shab!

Wonderfully Warm Wednesday!

I could have added "in Winnipeg" to the end of that title, y'know, for the sake of alliteration!, but I didn't want to risk sounding tooooo cheesy! lol

Today's a pretty good one so far! I got out of work 1/2 hr early, so I was done at 1230, and walked out to my car (which seems like miles away from the airport where I work), and I broke a sweat! It's so bloody warm out there, I love it!

Too bad my uniform consists of dark polyester pants. I had major swighs and swegs (sweaty thighs and legs!) by the time I reached my car!

(Ahh, I love the honesty the net allows me to have!) lol

Ok, so today's menu is pretty similar to yesterday's. In fact, it's completely IDENTICAL, with the exception of supper, which I haven't figured out yet.

I wanna do something chicken-y from my ESBM book, since I pulled some chicken boobs outta the freezer already and I love trying new things.

I was looking at the Sticky Chicky one - looks sooo yummy, but I don't have any red wine vinegar. I wonder if balsamic vinegar would work in it's place?

Anyhoot, that's it for now - I'm off for the rest of the day, and tomorrow too - I wish I could go outside and play, but I get tired so easily - surgeon said the drugs will be in my system for at least 9 months, and it's been 6 already - they make me soooo wiped, I always need an afternoon nap and I end up sleeping through Dr Phil and Oprah!

But I need to plow through some stuff - I do videography, and a friend asked me to do post-production on the raw footage some joker took at her wedding 2 yrs ago. (It's really crappy work, and it makes me angry to go through it! The camera work is just too shoddy. Anger!) I've gotta get this project wrapped up, as I promised to deliver it on Sunday. I think I'm almost done now, here's hoping!

Back to work today

Doesn't even really feel like I had holidays! Usually DH and I would have buggered off to Vancouver this time of year, or flown SOMEPLACE. You'd think b/c I work for an airline, I would be travelling somewhere all the time. Oh well - this time around just didn't allow us time to go anywhere. Next time though - I've got another 2 1/2 wks coming up at the end of June/beginning of July, and I think we're going to LA or Vegas or something, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed!

Anyhoot, here's a looksie at today's menu:

Brekkie:
1/4 cup steel cut oats - 2
1 banana - 1.5
cinnamon - 0
coffee w/ff creamer - 1

1 granny smith apple - 1
2 tbsp ff cool whip - 0

Midnight Monday...

Well, it's almost midnight - I just wanted to post my APs today, for the record!

2 APs - 40 min strength training
1 AP - 20 min walk
1 AP - 20 min elliptical

It was a rushed night, b/c I had my physio-required stretches to do (which take FOREVER), and I had to make time for 24. Plus I'm back at work tomororw, so it kinda had to be an early night.

Note: HAD to be.

Did I mention it's almost midnight!?

Ah well! I napped enough today!

Have a great night, for those of you who are still awake!

I'll check in tomorrow!

Go, little snail! GO!

I love it when he moves down my ticker! You go, lil' guy!

Marvelous Monday!

Good day everyone!

Yesterday was a GREAT day!

Got in an AP for the flyer delivery in the morning (I had to let dh do the first bit as I ran to Shoppers for some wrapping paper and a card), then we came home and I got dressed for the shower, which was surprisingly fun (I typically HATE going to bridal showers!), then I came home, got changed again, and we were off to my parent's place for my niece's 2nd birthday!

She was SOOOO much fun to watch, just a-tearin' into those big ol' presents! I got a couple of pics (my battery died too soon - dyargh!), and so I'll post 'em up later.

I went over by 2 pts yesterday, but that's ok - for supper, I had 3 slices of Domino's thin crust veggie pizza - only 1 pt per slice! And I only had half a piece of birthday cake! Total NSV!

Today's WI is a pleasant surprise - I'm down 1.5lbs! WOOHOO!

DH called in sick to work today, poor guy - he's upstairs sleeping, so I thought, for my last day of holidays, I'm gonna nap a bit, too! It's nearly 1pm, and I just woke up! It's a great feeling!

So now I'm rested, and I missed out on breakfast and my snack - I just saved myself 6.5 pts! LOL!

Here's my food forecast:

Lunch:
1 pesto wrap w/1 can tuna - 6
salad w/fruit salsa - 1
1 chocobran muffin - 1
= 8

Snack:
2 chocobrans (damn them!) - 2
= 2

Supper:
1 serving Dilly Beloved, yet another recipe from ESBM - 4
salad - 0
= 4

14/21

That leaves me with LOTS of points for snacks during 24 tonite! HOORAY!

Have a great day everyone!!!

Saturday, April 14, 2007

Saturday mayhem!

Well, the last weekend of my holidays, and for the first time in my 2 1/2 wks off, I finally managed to sleep in! Why does my body wait until the last possible days to do this to me?!

I was up at 7, and usually I just stay up and get my day going, but today, I went back to bed - and woke up at 11! How nice!

I'm just having some coffee now to kick-start my day, and it's gonna be a long one!

Dono's mom is in from out of town for his cousin's social tonite and shower tomorrow, so we're going to go and pick her up and take her shopping for a shower gift, drop her back off with at her brother's place (they're going to a Moose game this afternoon), then we've gotta go shopping for Lexi's birthday gift (it's tomorrow!), THEN I've gotta come home and get my physio-required stretches and exercises in, and then we're off to the social tonite! Should be a good time!

Tomorrow's an earlier start - wake up early, get our flyers delivered, get my APs in, head out to the shower, then off to my niece's birthday party!

Hopefully everything falls into place the way I planned it out in my head!

Here's today's food forecast:

Brekkie:
2 chocobran muffins (at 7am) -
= 2

Lunch:
1/4 cup steel cut oats - 2
1/4 cup skim milk -0.5
1/2 tbsp brown sugar - 0.5
coffee w/ff creamer - 1

Snack:

Supper:

21.5/21

2 APs (40 min strength training)

....not sure how the rest of the day'll play out! Honestly, I can't even begin to imagine, depends on when we get home before the social! I'll hold myself accountable, though!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Friday, April 13, 2007

Well, at least I did SOME...

I was aiming for at least 6APs today, to cover the 6.5 pts I went over on plan, but I only managed to get 4 instead.

But still, I got 4 APs!

That's good, right?

.....right??!!!!!

2 APs - 40 min strength training
2 APs - 40 min elliptical, moderate

A bug in my basement....Spring is here!

Yup, that's right.

The first sign of Spring has officially arrived.

I found (and subsequently vacuumed up) the first bug of the season. (Well, the first one in my basement, anyways!)

I don't care that the snow has melted, or that I can go outside without wearing big ol' boots on my feet.

Usually, for me, the first sign that the temperature is getting nicer, is when little creepy crawlies start showing up from under the wall, making their way across the new berber to get a better view of the big screen TV.

Don't get me wrong, we don't have a "bug problem" per se, maybe only about a dozen come through every year. 'Ish. But I'm a bug-hater, and one is one too many! So I try to show them I'm Tony Danza (y'know, who's boss...?!) and suck those lil' buggers up as a warning to any of their friends who might be thinking they'd follow suit and invade our newly-renovated rec room.

Take THAT, bug!

Ahhh, Spring!

Friday the 13th!!!

Eh, what a typical name for this post - I'm not in the least bit superstitious, so why highlight it?

It just so happens that I go out of my way to not walk under ladders or to avoid black cats - but that's because I don't want to risk having the ladder come crashing down on me, and I just plain hate cats!

Ok, so maybe I'm a bit superstitious. :)

2 nice days in a row???

Well, first off, I wanted to thank ALL OF YOU for stopping by and posting on my tattoo story. WOW, what a great support system you are! (I personalized my thanks in a long, novel-length post...always the chatty writer, I am!)

Today was day 2 of nice weather, in a ROW! What a roll we're on! And my tattoo is still here! lol

I went to my parent's place to visit with my sister, my niece, and my parents, we discussed the literally psychotic nature of my sister's scary soon-to-be ex-husband (one of the staples of my frequent visits there), but the best part was taking my niece out for a walk! She'll be 2 on Sunday, and she's just the CUTEST little thing!

"Funny Aatie", "Yuv you too, Aatie", and "Oh ma goooodness!" are my personally favourite Alexis-isms! She just brightens up my day!

Anyhoot, here's a review of today, complete with a picture of a new recipe I tried out from my ESBM cookbook! God, what a good investment that was!!!

What a day!!!!

Well, I'm pleased to report that I didn't yak or cry at all like I thought I would!

I GOT TATTOOED!

(now I just need to get screwed and glued, and I'll be complete...!) lol

Here's me, just after lunch and just before my appointment, keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that I survive my adventures at Soul Survivors!

And here's Dono, showing some love to the polar bear....(just had to throw that in cuz he was doing everything he could to crack me up and keep me calm!)

Here's the amazing Carly at Soul Survivors, working her tattooing magic!

And here's the finished product! (It's still pretty red, but I'm thinkin' that'll go away eventually!)

The reason I've been so excited to get this done is, well, for one, I've wanted a tattoo for YEARS, but never really knew what I wanted, what to get. And I didn't want to get one just for the sake of getting one. I wanted it to be special.

And this one, my first tattoo, has special meaning.

You see, for years, I had to put up with comments from strangers - comments like, "When are you due?" And when I told them I wasn't pregnant, just "fat", they wouldn't believe me. I always had a big belly, and just assumed I was predisposed to carrying all my weight in my stomach. I did everything I could - became an ephedrine addict, even. For years, I was addicted to the stuff, and I threw out a LOT of money on those tiny little damaging pills. I did crash diets. I starved myself. I put my body through a lot of crap, and inside, I was suffering.

Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Nothing I did would make my stomach go away, my efforts were relentless, and I was failing myself. I hated myself for it.

Along came Donovan, the greatest man of all, and he saw past my insecurities, fell in love with me for me - got me off my "drug addiction", and told me every day how beautiful I was and how much he loved me. (Note: that shouldn't be past tense, he still does this every day! Ahhhh!)

He never thought my belly was something to be concerned about - we all just assumed that it was fat (and after a lot of research on the net, my self-diagnosis told me I had copious amounts of visceral fat, and I needed to drastically change my lifestyle). I never went to a dr about this - I didn't need to hear a dr tell me I had to do more sit-ups.

As much as I was in denial, I was fighting depression.

After Dono and I got married, we tried to get pregnant right away, and after 2 yrs of trying, no luck. I figured it was because I was overweight - so I joined Weight Watchers! Why not try to lose a few pounds the HEALTHY way? Well, I did - lost 20lbs right out of the gate, but still, no baby.

After 2 yrs of trying, we went to a fertility dr, who discovered I had a massive cyst growing in my belly.

(My first reaction, instead of OH MY GOD, AM I GOING TO DIE? was, DID YOU HEAR THAT, DONOVAN? I'M NOT FAT!)

I can't tell you how many nights I would lay awake in bed, poking at my rock hard stomach (which was the size of a beach ball, no lie), and just wish someone would stick a needle in it and pop it.

Well, on September 26, 2006, that's exactly what they did.

I lost nearly 35lbs that day, in a matter of an hour and a half.

They drained 16L of fluid from my belly.

That day changed my life.

This tattoo is representative of that amazing time in my life - a time when all my years of depression, of mental anguish and self-hate, came to an end, and a new Cat was on the horizon.

The tattoo consists of 16 flowers and buds of freesia, located on the left side of my torso (b/c this is where the cyst started, and where I have permanent internal damage - a left fallopian tube and ureter that are essentially cranked) - 16 to represent the number of litres drained from my belly, freesia to represent my love for my husband - those were flowers in my wedding bouquet, and Donovan was there with me, every step of the way, from wreckless nurses jabbing needles in my arms for bloodwork, to my cancer scare, to having him spend every day and every night with me in the hospital, crunched into an uncomfortable chair, never leaving my side.

The butterfly represents the incredible change, and the way I feel - I was always hiding behind big baggy clothes, and now, I've emerged from my "cocoon", a more confident and self-assured woman, filled with joy and a zest for life that I never knew I could have. (I mean, marrying Donovan gave me that, of course - but this was a whole new level of it that I never realized I could have.)

And there you have it! My life in a nutshell, pretty much.

This is why I've been so excited to get my "ink" done. Now if only I can find the confidence to wear a 2-pc bathing suit come summertime so I can show it off at the beach! Oh wait - sun fades the colours.....better stick with the one-pc, but at least now, I can throw away my swimming moomoo!

I love Weight Watchers for what it has taught me, what I'm continuing to learn from it. Although the loss of the massive cyst resulted in me looking rather malnourished, I've managed to finally fill out a bit, and look like a normal person. For the first time in my life, I feel normal! Now I don't have to worry about people staring at my stomach and wondering if I'm pregnant! What a liberating feeling it is!

I'm going to stick with WW because I still have some work to do. I want to tone up all that loose skin that still remains around my belly and strengthen the muscles beneath it. I want to slim down my hips and thighs. And I want to lose an ass or two (I asked the surgeon to check my arse for cysts, b/c due to the size of it, I was pretty sure I had some in there!.....he said no!....)

So here I am today - a new woman on a new mission .... not just a weight loss journey, but one of a healthier lifestyle - for me, for my husband, and for the baby that Dono and I hope to one day conceive. I want to be at my healthiest when I'm pregnant, and this WW journey will get me there.

T-DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good lord, I'm SOOO excited!

Today is a day I've been waiting a loooong time for - TATTOO DAY!!
Back in November, just over a month after my surgery, Dono bought me a gift certificate for a tattoo at Soul Survivors (a very reputable and hygenic place, I might add!), b/c he knew I'd been talking about getting one for a very long time (especially after drooling over Ami James from Miami Ink!).

And so a couple of months ago, we went for a consultation - and TODAY'S THE DAY!!!

I freakin' can't wait! I was up early, had 2 cups of coffee already, and I'm beyond jittery!

But first thing's first - I have a physio app't at 10:30, and then right after, Dono and I are heading to The Village! He's getting one, too - I'm so excited, I can't even eat!

(This, my friends, is the wonder that is Ami James...too bad HE isn't doing my tattoo!)

HOORAY!

I did it!

I gots me some APs tonite - 6, to be exact! - and now it's time to hit the shower and get ready to go - DH and I are going to a movie tonite!

I even got enough APs to cover my movie theatre popcorn!!!

:)

2 APs for 40 min of strength training
4 APs for 30 min high intensity cardio (elliptical)

DAMMIT!

Ok, so I'm just gonna scrap today's menu plan - that totally went out the window when I was cleaning out the fridge and found 8 leftover perogies. Well, they just weren't gonna eat themselves!, so much to my dismay, I popped 'em down the hatch.

Damn, they were good!

But DAMMIT, did I ever screw up! (I've modified my menu forecast below to accurately reflect my horrible mishaps. Grrrrr.)
For supper, I ended up making my DH's favourite BBQ Chicken Pizza. MMMM! I wasn't going to have any, as I sabotaged my menu so badly, but that's what flex pts are for, eh? Plus, I'm gonna work my arse off to get some APs and burn off those dough-filled goodies.

Doesn't this pizza look AMAZING?!! Only 5pts per slice! YUMM-O! Click here for the recipe!

My little Easter bunny!

These pics were taken at my parent's place on Easter Sunday - I was having a rough hair day, as I spent that afternoon making perogies for Easter dinner!

Lexi LOVES to ham it up, and her smiles show it! Here she is with Uncle!

I can't believe she's going to be 2 on Sunday! I was in the delivery room with my sister when Lexi was born, and since she's the first baby in our family, she is just our little angel, and gets spoiled to bits! Hopefully some day soon, Donovan and I can give her a little cousin to play with!

Toning Tuesday!

Good fabulous Tuesday morning!

My DH let me sleep in today as he scurried off to work, so I woke up feeling rested and ready to tackle the day!

I'm pretty sore from yesterday's exercise binge I went on, but it only motivates me to keep on truckin'! After all, TOMORROW is tattoo day!!! I won't be anywhere NEAR the lil' goal I set for myself, despite how hard I've tried - but who cares? I'm happier, healthier, and super pumped about it all, so life is good!

(Look what happens when I get a good night's sleep!)

Here's today's food forecast:

Brekkie:

1/4 cup steel cut oats - 2

1/4 cup skim milk - 0.5

1/2 tbsp brown sugar - 0.5

= 3

Snack:

1 All Bran bar - 2

1 apple - 1

Lunch:

2 cups Gardennay soup - 2

1 can tuna - 2

= 4 (leftover couscous w/shrimp stir-fry) = 2.5

= 18.5 so far....

Supper:

10 pts to play with, so I'm not sure yet, something chicken-y perhaps...oops, that reminds me, I need to go pull some chicken boobs outta the freezer!

1 slice BBQ Chicken Pizza - 5

salad - 0

= 5

Mundane Monday!

I was afraid to step on the scale this morning, and I hate to report, but I'm up 1.5lb. I tried to be good over the weekend, but I guess all the perogies I made somehow got the best of me.

In the words of Jack Bauer, DAMMIT!

Anyhoot, it's a new week, my last week of holidays, and no major holiday feasts are on the horizon. Plus, tattoo day is Wednesday, so I need to commit to myself here - to make me the best me I can be! (cheesy!)

Ok, so here's today's review:

Happy Easter!

A lady opened her refrigerator, and saw a rabbit sitting on one of the shelves.

"What are you doing in there?" she asked.
The rabbit replied, "This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?", to which the confused lady replied, "Yes."

"Well," said the rabbit, "I'm WESTING!"

teehee!

Have a happy Easter everyone!

Starving Saturday!

I have a wedding to go to tonite, and so I'm saving most of my points for that - I'm guessing I'll allow myself 12 pts for dinner, dessert, and wine - which means, I have pretty much nothing left over for the rest of the day!

I know I have flex pts, and let's be honest, I'll probably dip into those. Depends on how hungry and cranky I get! But I really don't want to if I don't have to - so I'm going to find some filling, low-point stuff to eat. Methinks that Gardennay soup - that's always a safe bet!

I feel rather proud of myself! The wedding that I'm going to tonite is for a friend of mine - she's such a sweetheart, and I'm really so happy for her - they're an awesome couple! Anyhoot, I wanted to give them something extra special, instead of just a blender or something - so I dug deep, found the Martha Stewart inside, and made this shadow box with their wedding invite inside!

(He's a military guy, hence the camoflague garb.)

I'm just really nervous that something'll happen to it - like I'll drop it or something, and it'll smash to bits! I'm a natural born klutz, so I need to be EXTRA careful!

ANYhoo...

Here's the food forecast for today:

Brekkie:

3 egg whites, 2 slices ww toast - 2

coffee w/ff creamer - 1

= 3

Lunch:

2 cups Gardennay soup - 2

16 Triscuits - 4

= 6

Dinner

WHO KNOWS???! 12 pts

Forgetting Friday!

WHUUPS!

So I was a tad neglectful of my blog today - and apparently, my plan for the day. Oopsidaisies!

I actually have a good reason - I spent all morning finishing off the perogies I started late last night (note: MAKING them, NOT eating them!), and by the time I was done, and the kitchen was cleaned, it was nap time! (Mind you, NO reason is a good reason to be neglectful of myself. Bad, bad Cat - I should have fed my body right today.)

I crashed until about 7pm, made supper for me an' DH, and then I was off to the airport to drop off the dozens of doughy goodness for my friends and co-workers.

Came home, got changed, and got in some APs! WOOHOO!

Here's a review of today's disaster!:

Brekkie:

1 cup coffee w/ff creamer - 1

Today was a blah day - my first week of holidays is almost up, and what do I have to show for it?

Anything?

Nope. Not yet, anyways. Tattoo day is coming up, though - April 11th....that should be a nice way to spend my time off!

On a brighter note, I got more than my 3L of water in today! Boy, I sure have been thirsty!

Did anyone else watch The Office tonite? New episode finally - but still no Jim-Pam hook-up! Dyargh!

Ok, well, I'm off to make more perogies now - hopefully my last batch for a while. I will take no more orders! My poor fingers! I think carpal tunnel is setting in!

LOST Wednesday!

I didn't bother posting yesterday's menu - ended up going out with friends for wing night at Triple B's. Sigh. So, my sneak peek on the scale reflected my 2 vodkas and the wing samples I indulged in. That's ok - just up a half a lb. But I'm back on track ('ish) today!

Mandy posted a DEEELICIOUS Mexican Pizza recipe on her blog that I'm going to try tonite! I hope it turns out as good as hers looked! Can't wait to munch on it while watching LOST - it looks as though it's gonna be a good one, too! OOOOH, the excitement! I love Wednesday nights!

DH and I are getting ready to head out for our flyer delivery in a bit, so I'll get some APs in, too!

Divorce Disaster Diverted!

Wow, have I ever learned a lot!

First off, I learned that, as wonderful as I believe my hubby is, and as much as I WANT to believe he can do anything, he's not Bob Vila.

As Gail on the GDT pointed out, he's more like Tim Taylor!

LOL (love you, hunney!)

To his credit, it wasn't ENTIRELY his fault!

He was just trying to impress my parents - so I guess they're partly to blame, too!

You see, they were supposed to come over on Sunday for a wonderful meal I was to prepare for them. I had been waiting all week for it - I was so excited that I had the chance to cook for them, and my brother, sister, and my niece.

Sunday afternoon rolls around, and Bob - uhh, Donovan (my DH!) - decided he would change the outlet under the cupboard in the kitchen, b/c it was cream coloured, and the thought white would look nicer and cleaner. He wanted to prove to my parents that he CAN be handy!

Well, he got his big Home Depot book out and followed the instructions to a tee - and next thing y'know, the whole house has shorted out!

(This is what he did to my outlet - where it all started!!!)
Dinner was cancelled, I was MAD (b/c I told him before he even got his toolbelt on, "NO, don't bother!"). My dad came over and attempted to fix the problem.

They managed to get everything else working - lights (that wouldn't work until the element on the stove was turned on!), the mic, little things like that. But the stove itself wasn't getting power, and we soon discovered, neither was my dryer!

Anyhoot, my dad figured there was a problem with the oven. So we called a repairman to come out and see what the dilly-o was. He came by this morning, and said the oven's fine. Next step - call an electrician, the repairman said.

We instead called MB Hydro, just in case there was anything they could do.

Turns out (and this is where I start feeling like I gained a few blue-collar brain cells!) there are 2 power lines that run to the house - a 110, and 220. Well, the 110 line was working just fine, that's why we were able to have working lights and smaller appliances, like the nuker. But the 220 circuit was fried, and that's the amt of power the oven and dryer needed.

SOOOO, the hydro dude got out all his equipment, went up to the power lines behind our house, pulled some tricks out of his bag, and VOILA! We're back up and running!

So, to my hubby's credit, it wasn't ENTIRELY his fault - buddy from hydro said the connection was really old, and would have eventually gone on it's own. My hubby just helped expedite the process of the connection getting fixed!

Now we have a nice, pretty new outlet in our kitchen!
And my parent's still aren't convinced Donovan can do handy-work around the house! lol

What an ordeal! I'm just glad we're back up and running. My hubby has learned a few good lessons - 1. Don't try to do any electrical work on your own; 2. ALWAYS listen to your wife. I was soooooo close to divorce! HAHA!
On another note, this sure did make us appreciate electricity! Thanks, Louie the Lightning Bug!

New month, new template!

Happy April!

Sure, there's a bit of snowy flakes falling, but who cares? Easter's just around the corner, and life is grand!
Yesterday's catastrophic events could have very easily been mistaken for an April Fool's joke, but in the end, everything worked out wonderfully - I'm DOWN for today's WI!

Two wks ago, I was pleased to report a 3lb loss - bringing me to 152.5. Then last week, all hell broke loose (TOM), and I was up to 158.5! Well, this week, I went back on the flex plan, drank 3L of water and got only 18APs in, and I'm down!

152lb, BABY!!!

I love making my little snail move on my ticker (move in the RIGHT direction, that is!).

Ahhh, today's going to be a great day!

First day of holidays, I'm feelin' pretty good, my tattoo is a week away - and life is grand!!!

Hope everyone else has a fantastic day, too!

Here's what my menu today will consist of:

Brekkie:

1/4 steel cut oats - 2

1/4 cup skim milk - 0.5

1/2 tbsp brown sugar - 0.5

coffee w/ff creamer - 1

= 4

Snack:

All Bran bar - 2

banana - 1.5

= 3.5

Lunch:

1 pesto wrap w/55 gm tandoori chicken - 5

salad - 0

1 glass V8 - 0

= 5

MODIFICATION - I had NONE of this for lunch!!! Instead, I had 2.5 pts worth of cashews at my parent's house!

Snack:

1 apple - 1

1 chocobran muffin - 1

= 2

NOPE! Ix-nay on this whole bit!

Supper:

TBA, probably something chicken-y - I have 6.5 pts left to play with for supper and a snack.

I ended up eating at my parent's place - didn't stop to think that I can't make anything chicken-y b/c my oven's still broken! So instead, I had 6 meatballs, 1/2 cup egg noodles, and steamed asparagus = 8pts

Snack:
popcorn - 2

little chocolate Easter eggs - about 3pts worth

= 5

Don't plan on anything!!!

NOTHING worked out the way it was supposed to!

We got our APs in with the flyer delivery, went to Zellers to pick up some stuff, and when we got home, DH decided he wanted to install the new electrical hardware he picked up - a white plug outlet and plate. Well, he installed it - and the whole house ended up shorting out!

So there went our plans of having my family over for the elaborate meal I was going to prepare for them!

It worked out alright in the end - my dad came over after work and helped get us back on track with it, and I took some chicken and ingredients over to my parent's place and made supper for everyone there!

We still had a great time, but I didn't get all my pts in for the day.

18/21

I seriously can't eat anymore - I just chugged off my last litre of water, and I feel like I'm going to explode! And now it's time for bed - so I hope to get back on track tomorrow.

Jeebus!!!

Snowy Sunday!

Woke up to white stuff.....WHY CAN'T WE HAVE NICE WEATHER FOR MORE THAN A DAY?!
lol

We didn't get a chance to head out last night for our flyer delivery, we had to trudge through slush to get it done this morning. More APs I suppose, but dang, I wished we would've done it last night instead! Turns out it wasn't THAT bad, a little chilly, but manageable.

I have my family coming over for dinner tonite - it's gonna be a doozy! Here's the plan for today:
